THRIPURA

Tripura is a small but culturally rich state located in northeastern India, bordered by Bangladesh on three sides and Assam and Mizoram on the remaining side. Known for its lush green hills, valleys, rivers, and forests, Tripura has a scenic landscape shaped by the Eastern Himalayas and the Indo-Gangetic plains. The state has a long history that includes ancient tribal kingdoms and the princely state of Tripura, with its heritage reflected in historic sites such as the Ujjayanta Palace in the capital city, Agartala.

Culturally, Tripura is a vibrant blend of indigenous tribal traditions and Bengali influence. The state is home to several tribal communities, each with its own language, customs, and festivals, such as Garia and Kharchi Puja. Agriculture forms the backbone of Tripura’s economy, with rice, rubber, tea, and bamboo being important products. Handicrafts, especially bamboo and cane work, are widely admired.
