TELANGANA

Telangana is a relatively young state in south-central India, formed in 2014 after being separated from Andhra Pradesh. It is located on the Deccan Plateau and is bordered by Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh. The state has a rich historical background shaped by the Satavahanas, Kakatiyas, Qutb Shahis, and the Nizams of Hyderabad. Telangana is known for its diverse landscapes, ranging from rocky terrains and forests to fertile river basins supported mainly by the Godavari and Krishna rivers.

Culturally, Telangana reflects a unique blend of South and Central Indian traditions, with Telugu as the primary language and Urdu also widely spoken, especially in and around Hyderabad. The state is famous for its folk arts such as Bathukamma and Bonalu festivals, which celebrate local culture and traditions. Economically, Telangana has made rapid progress, with Hyderabad emerging as a major hub for information technology, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and startups. Agriculture remains important, supported by large irrigation projects, while the state’s focus on infrastructure, innovation, and welfare programs has contributed to its steady development and growing national significance.
